SAS Survival, walking in the footsteps of the UK Special Air Service

Walking in the footsteps of the SAS

The SAS is one of the best known and most respected of all elite forces in the world today. Until  May 1980 very little was known of the SAS. But that was all to change when SAS troopers armed with H&K MP5 sub-machineguns, stormed the Iranian Embassy in London.  The world watched as Iranian gunmen held 26 people hostage at the  embassy. After a six-day stand-off the SAS launched a dramatic attack on the hostage-takers and within 10 minutes the seige was over and only one terrorist, who hid among the hostages, survived the attack by SAS.
Since  WWII the SAS  has seen action in Malaya, Borneo, Oman, Northern Ireland , the Falklands, theGulf War, Afghanistan and the recent  Gulf War.

To gain a greater insight into the SAS we recommend the following books:

  • SOLDIERS AND SHERPAS - Brummie Stokes
  • WHO DARES WINS  -   Tony Geraghty
  • THE REAL BRAVO TWO ZERO -  Michael Asher
  • THE EYE OF THE STORM  -  Peter Ratcliffe
  • GHOST FORCE  -  Ken Connor
